Looking to the Future

Volunteers Reception March 12th, 2009

As volunteers we play a key role in making the museum an important cultural destination and gathering place in northern Nevada. One reason we volunteer is because we recognize that the E.L. Cord Museum School, the fresh and exciting exhibits, the educational lectures and fun-filled social events enrich our lives and the lives of our friends and family. Every time we volunteer we further demonstrate our commitment to and love for the museum.

But what are some other low- or no-cost ways that we can ensure the museum continues to thrive and serve the generations that follow us? How can we guarantee that the museum will continue to be a cultural staple in our community, especially in uncertain economic times? One way is to plan for the future.

On March 12th at 5 p.m. please join us in the Founders’ Room for a wine and cheese reception and a presentation by Director David Walker about the Museum’s future. David will explain what the Museum has planned for 2009 and 2010. Following David’s remarks, planned-giving professional and Board Member Ron Zideck will speak briefly about how you can secure the Museum’s future health by making a simple planned gift. You’ll be surprised to learn that the gift may not cost you a dime and will take only a little bit of time. Look for your personal invitation and more details in February.

Going Green

Following the current trends to save and protect the environment, the Volunteers in Art Newsletter will soon be available on-line. This will not only save trees but also the NMA budget. We hope soon to completely eliminate the expense of printing and mailing, except for those few volunteers who may not have internet connection and email. If you would like to begin receiving the newsletter on-line rather than mailed to you, please contact us at bedell@nevadaart.org.

Volunteers Needed

Are you interested in serving on the volunteer board, the VIA Council? Help is needed for Arts and Flowers and for additional administration help. Contact Rosalind Bedell at bedell@nevadaart.org.
